The City of Orangeburg is seeking a qualified Clerk of Court in the Municipal Court Executive Division.

 

SUMMARY:


Manage the administrative functions of the Municipal Court.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Attend all municipal court proceedings.
  • Enter all tickets (criminal and traffic) in court software.

  • Create dockets and distribute to officers.

  • Issuance of Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay warrants.

  • Files monthly state reports to the appropriate agencies.

  • Record dispositions of all municipal tickets.

  • Reconcile all online ticket payments.

  • Reconcile all late and delinquent tickets.

  • Process administrative reductions.

  • Supervise daily duties of other Court Clerk office personnel.

  • All other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Associate Degree and minimum three (3) to five (5) years of experience with courts or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the

required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. LawTrak court software is preferred.

 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of legal documents and court processes and the ability to apply rules and procedures pertaining to court actions is required.

Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance.

Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions.

Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions.

Fluent use of Microsoft office tools, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook.

Language skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as court documents, or procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to type or dial numbers.

The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License and;
  • Satisfactory results from pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check upon conditional offer of employment.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Hiring Range: $41,000 - $49,000 DOQ and experience.
