                                                                                       Golf Course Maintenance Worker

The City of Orangeburg's Hillcrest Golf Course is seeking a qualified individual as a Golf Course Maintenance Worker. Position is full-time and will assist maintenance crew in maintenance and operation of golf course buildings and grounds. Position will work under close supervision of the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent. $9/hr.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Mowing and maintaining fairways, greens, tee areas, rough and open space areas, mowing weeds, cleaning and maintaining sand traps and other course elements.

  • Maintains sprinkler systems and assists in repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads.

  • Inspects and washes and performs routine maintenance of drinking fountains and restrooms.

  • Sweeps, paint, and repair or replace tables, slabs and other facility equipment.

  • Performs routine maintenance on turf and power equipment.

  • Plants turf, trees, shrubs and flowers.

  • Carries out seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering and pest control of golf course.

  • Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for various programs and tournaments, and prepares facilities for program use.

  • Assists in the construction of any new facilities work including clearing, grading and foundation work.

  • Additional duties may apply.

     

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • At a minimum, must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and ground maintenance.
  • Knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Valid SC driver’s license.

Duties of this job will require frequent standing for lengthy periods of time and walking. Must be able to lift/move up to 40lbs unassisted. Employee will be regularly exposed to outside weather conditions performing strenuous physical labor.

This is a full-time position. May be required to work some weekends or holidays.
